The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Kigali donates 200 wheelchairs to different hospitals, including Rilima Specialized Orthopedic Hospital, and one organization of people with disabilities of Bugesera District.
The official handover of those wheelchairs was held in the Centre de Chirurgie Orthopédique Pédiatrique et de Réhabilitation, Sainte Marie de Rilima (CCO Rilima) on Thursday, 13th October 2022.
The aim of this action, is to support people with disabilities because the UAE consider people with Disabilities as persons of value in the society.
Participated in this ceremony different personalities among whom the highest were: Dr. Daniel Ngamije, Minister of Health, H.E. Hazza Mohammed Falah Kharsan AlQahtani, UAE Ambassador to Rwanda, Ms.Yvette Imanishimwe, Vice-Mayor of Bugesera District in charge of Social Affairs, Father Donatien Twizeyumuremyi, Vice-President of CCO Rilima Health Committee and Director of CARITAS Kigali who was representing H.Em. Antoine Cardinal KAMBANDA, Archbishop of Kigali and owner of CCO Rilima.

In his welcoming speech to the guests, Fr. Donatien TWIZEYUMUREMYI stressed that one of the missions of the Catholic Church is the assistance to many people, regardless their religions or other social classes, to have good health. And that was its fundamental purpose in creating and maintaining health facilities, among which specialized hospitals like CCO Rilima, CARAES Ndera, and HVP Gatagara.
He expressed thankfulness to the Government of Rwanda in general, and the Ministry of Health in particular for its valuable support to that mission. He then expressed gratitude to the Embassy of UAE for its donation that enhances the efforts of the Archdiocese of Kigali to achieve its mission.
The Vice-Mayor in charge of Social Affairs, on her side, said that the District of Bugesera was very honored to host the ceremony, at Rilima Specialized Hospital which plays a great role in providing quality health care services to people with disabilities.
She thanked the Archdiocese of Kigali for having set this hospital in Bugesera and the MoH for its permanent support. On this point, she expressed hope that the MoH will accelerate the procedures allowing CCO Rilima to work in collaboration with Mutuelle de Santé, the most affordable governmental health insurance for the general public.
She also thanked the Embassy of UAE for this important donation. And she reassured that the District of Bugesera will always work together with health facilities to improve the well-being of its population.

Dr. Daniel Ngamije, Minister of Health, appreciated the UAE for supporting the Ministry of Health in his different policies, especially in regard to assisting people with disabilities.
He praised the good work done by different hospitals in this domain and expressed his satisfaction with the services offered at CCO Rilima. He then promised the availability of the Ministry of Health to assist CCO Rilima and other health facilities across the country in providing quality health care services to people.
Dr. Albert Nzayisenga, Director General of CCO Rilima, with rilimaorthopaedic.rw interview, thanked expressed his thankfulness to the Minister of Health for his presence in this ceremony and said that the event showed how people with disabilities are highly considered in Rwanda.
Dr. Albert also appreciated the donation of the Embassy of UAE in Kigali in 200 Wheelchairs. The event was ended by the official handover of the wheelchairs to different hospitals and the organization of people with disabilities of Bugesera District.
