Training on pediatric neurological rehabilitation was conducted at “Centre de Chirurgie Orthopedique et de Rehabilitation Sainte Marie de Rilima” on 7th to 8 october 2019. This training was conducted in collaboration of cco Rilima and University of Rwanda College of Medicine and Health Sciences (URCMHS) physiotherapy department, health volunteers overseas (HVO), and humanity & inclusion (HI) Rwanda.
Through this training, Physiotherapists of CCO Rilima were trained and acquired evidence based knowledge and skills in pediatric physical therapy for children with cerebral palsy and visual and vestibular system assessment and treatment.
Mary Pope, PT, PhD and Adrianna Bate, PT, MPT (experts of Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO)) and NSHIMIYIMANA Jacques, PT, MPT (Head of Physiotherapy department URCMHS) were trainers of this training.
Participants: Trainees (6 physiotherapist from CCO RILIMA) and 2Instructors from American (Mary Pope, PT, PHD and ADRIANE BATE, PT, MPT) with Facilitator from University of Rwanda (NSHIMIYIMANA JACQUES, PT, MPT)
The trainers expressed their closing remarks and appreciated the active participation of the trainees. They suggested to combine Occulomotor function exercises and motor function Training program in order to improve quality of life for Children with Cerebral Palsy.
Director General of CCO RILIMA Dr Albert Nzayisenga expressed much appreciation to the trainers from Health Volunteers Overseas in Collaboration with University of Rwanda for their great support of the training program. Then after he gave certificates to the trainees and CPD credits.
