ON THIS 22ND OF JULY 2019, MRS. LYNDA KITHIL FROM COLORADO, USA PAID A COURTESY VISIT TO CENTRE DE CHIRURGIE ORTHOPEDIQUE PEDIATRIQUE ET DE REHABILITATION SAINTE MARIE DE RILIMA. THIS VISIT WAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO DISCUSS ABOUT THE ROADMAP FOR THE EXISTING PARTNERSHIP.
We are already proud of our partnership and what was so far achieved
Centura health had been a partner of CCO Rilima since almost 10 years. All started when a child with neglected club foot from far Eastern Rwanda was treated at Rilima thanks to the funds from this American charity. Touched by the success of this treatment, Centura approached the Hospital and together they started a project of vulgarization of the treatment of Club foot. Currently, 5 trainings were sponsored by Centura Health and were carried out at Rilima. More than 100 practitioners were trained and they are doing great job at respective workplaces. The impact of these trainings are sounding. Children with Club foot are diagnosed earlier, treated locally or dully referred. Centura health had also helped the Center to get a brand new anesthesia machine that will help increase both safety and number of procedures done.
Much more fruits of the partnership are yet to come
Today’s visit was intended to officially launch the use of the new Anesthesia machine that CCO Rilima got through the partnership with Ceintura Health. The total cost of this machine around 25,000USD was supported by an American donor through the advocacy of Centura.
In addition, discussions about near future collaboration, the Hospital administration suggested the introduction of a small ICU project that would be of a giant impact. CCO RILIMA, in fact, is neighbor to the new Bugesera International Airport and the boost in the local development imposes an adequate health preparedness.
Mrs. Lynda Kithil, along with the Director General of the Hospital, Dr. Albert Nzayisenga, visited the Hospital and details about existing services and activities’ expansion plan were given.
